Warwick-grad Jeff Weachter leads powerhouse Bishop McDevitt.
Calling Jeff Weachter's run as head coach at Bishop McDevitt a success is quite the understatement. The Warwick graduate (class of 1983) won the school's eighth District Title two weeks ago over Cocalico.
Tomorrow he takes aim at the program's second State Championship when the Crusaders face Allentown Central Catholic in the AAA title game.
Weachter has seen countless Crusaders receive Division 1 scholarships and has three players currently in the NFL: Philadelphia running back LeSean "Shady" McCoy, Detroit's Aaron Berry and Indianapolis Colt Jamie Thomas.
One of his current McDevitt stars, senior running back Jameel Poteat, is following in the footsteps of McCoy. Having already broken Shady's school record for career touchdowns, Poteat will attend the same college as McCoy, Pittsburg, next season. Listen to Weachter compare his past and present Crusader runners below:
Note: No Mid-Penn school has ever won a AAA state title. In fact, District 3 schools are just 1-3 all-time in AAA state championships.
