Spartans look to erase memories from 0-10 2009.
2009 Recap: Garden Spot stumbled through an 0-10 season (0-7 in Section 2), scoring a total of 41 points the entire year. The Spartan defense was not much better, giving up 35.2 points-per-game.
2010 Outlook: The upside of the ugly 2009 season is that plenty of young players saw the field, including four now-juniors in the secondary. The line will rely on the play of seniors Vinny Heffner and Anthony Huber.
Key Player Lost: Jared Fox was a Section 2 Honorable Mention All-Star at running back, rushing for 462 yards and 2 touchdowns last season. Fox was second in tackles with 52, behind Chad McGarvey who totaled 64.
Key Returner: Junior quarterback Jon Armbrust started much of last year before breaking his hand. That in-game experience will be crucial for the signal-caller, who will carry even more of the load as the Spartans add the option to their playbook.
Game on Cable-11: September 3 vs. Twin Valley, tape delayed at 9 pm.
Quotable: Coach Matt Zamperini (above), Heffner and Armbrust discuss the team's expectations after a disappointing 2009...
